Finding Belonging and Connection

When Charles and Michele Goodman moved to Jackson in 2019, they immediately started the search for a spiritual home. St. John's fits the bill for their family, and the Goodman's say, "St. John's welcomed us with open arms and we loved the sense of community that we experienced."

What they enjoy most about St. John's is the outreach into the Jackson community and the service opportunities. Also, no one is a stranger that walks in St. John's doors. From the first day they attended services they felt surrounded by love. They say, "and of course that is all Jimmy talks about!"

Charles and Michele enjoy preparing food for coffee hour. Michele says that the Thursday Women's Lunch was a great way for her to get to know some ladies when she first arrived. Charles and Michele have a blended family of six children and five grandchildren. Three of their kids are now living in Jackson and they stay busy with their grandkids.

Michele is originally from Orange County, California, and worked for Delta Airlines for 42 years. She has lived in Maui, Utah, California, and Florida in adulthood. Charles is originally from South Africa, immigrated in his teen years to the United States and spent most of his adult years in Texas.

In their spare time they enjoy fly fishing, traveling, hiking, biking, and skiing. Most of their hours are spent with family, friends and their two labs. They've always dreamed of retiring in Jackson. Charles tells everyone he is retired, but we know better!

St. John's has made it easy to feel like part of the community right from the beginning of their adventure in Jackson. They feel blessed to live here and be part of St. John's Episcopal Church.
