Spencer Reece Visits

This October we welcome back The Rev. Spencer Reece!

Spencer is the author of two award-winning collections of poetry, as well as an acclaimed memoir and book of watercolor meditations. The Clerk's Tale was selected by Nobel Laureate Louise Glück as winner of the Bakeless Prize, and was recognized with an award from the Library of Congress. His collection The Road to Emmaus was long-listed for the National Book Award, and short-listed for the prestigious Griffin Prize. Reece edited a bilingual anthology of poems by the abandoned girls of Our Little Roses, Counting Time Like People Count Stars. The work was featured in an award-winning documentary film, Voices Beyond the Wall: 12 Love Poems from the Murder Capital of the World. His third collection of poetry, Acts, will be published in 2024. In addition to his accolades as an artist, Spencer is a phenomenal priest, and huge-hearted human being. He has served as an Episcopal priest in San Pedro Sula, Honduras; Madrid, Spain; Queens, NY; and is currently vicar of St. Paul’s, Wickford, RI. We've been blessed to have Spencer serve as chaplain at The Chapel of the Transfiguration, and we are delighted to have Spencer here to collaborate on meaningful program offerings.

Spencer will preach at the 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. services on Sunday, October 8, read at The Red Door Poetry Series on Monday, October 9, and serve as our featured conversation partner for CAMPFIRE on Sunday, October 15 (co-emceed by Travis & Jimmy). Please give Spencer a warm welcome when you see him!
